Support Your Locals

A little goes a long way

S

uch a simple concept, but one that’s so ridiculously important at the same time.

The sad reality is that without proper support, local music scenes can barely hope to survive, let alone grow and prosper the way that they should.

Supporting your locals - whether that be DJ’s, producers, promoters or club events - can be so simple, yet it can go such a long way.

Easier Than You Think

There are so many little things that can be done to help your local scene. They might not seem like much, but even the smallest things can make a big difference.

Think about how easy it is to like a Facebook page, react to someone's status, listen to a mix, comment on a post or give something you like a share.

Even something as mundane as clicking ‘Interested’ on an event can be more helpful than you realise.

In 30 seconds you can show some support, and in less that 30 seconds you have the ability to make someone’s day. Think about that.

Making It Big

Every performer dreams of playing on the big stage, but with thousands of people gunning for the same goal, how can any one artist hope to stand out?

When producers start releasing music, they tend to aim for an audience close to home. Without locals showing them some love, getting their music heard is going to be a real struggle.

Everyone starts at the bottom, and listening to their tracks, supporting their posts, seeing them perform - every little bit counts on that arduous climb to the top.

Perth's Biggest & Brightest

You don’t have to look far to see just how much impact local support can really have.

Some of Perth’s most renowned talents - Oriental Cravings, Axen & Avance to name a few - all started at the bottom with everyone else.

Now, after years of hard work and a truckload of fierce local support, they’re gracing stages alongside some of the worlds biggest artists whilst releasing music to listeners on a global scale.

We might live in the most isolated city in the world, but that doesn’t mean there’s no hope for our music scene. A little support can go a very long way.

As always I hope you enjoyed the read. Party safe, stay hydrated and I’ll see you next time.
